The series Œcumene of Emilie Traverse is a ridge of archipelagos, of potentials images of worlds, past, present and future, where the emergence of dynamics comes from the reading of images, where each image becomes a part presupposing a relationship that it is derived from.
How does an image work? How can an image work with other one or with a group or a set of other images? This is the ambitious thinking that she tries to pursue. Without restraint or modesty, she invites us to reconsider the value of autonomy which is too quickly given to photographic images, to reassign it to the signs, to the spaces, and to the gaps.
